Austin Mariasy is a freelance photographer currently living and working at Greenwoods Camp for Boys in Decatur, Michigan. His background is in sports photography and got his start covering sports for Kent State University while also working for dozens of other clients all around the country including The United States Naval Academy, Princeton the University of North Carolina and many more.
He takes pride in creating relationships with the coaches, players and support staff he works with and the relationships he creates on the court spill over onto campus and into anything he covers. Austin is just as comfortable in an intimate brunch with the president of the university as he is covering a national championship.
He has worked closely with Kent State’s women’s lacrosse team during their inaugural season and created a 5-part podcast about the team covering everything from the creation of the team to player profiles and the recruiting efforts going forward. He has also written and photographed a story for Prizm Magazine about a bisexual women’s basketball player at Kent.
Through his freelance work, he has covered hundreds of events ranging from opening days to conference and national championships, political rallies and features for Akron Life Magazine, his internship.
Austin is also a self-taught designer working to improve his skills and his understanding of the visual world.
